My Heart Stopped Beating

My Heart Stopped Beating

(Rich Mullins)

My heart stopped beating the first time I met you.
And, that's a feeling I just can't forget.
It feels like a million years ago that I did not know you;
But, it seems just yesterday that we met.
And the peace that this world just cannot claim;
It can't be seen in visions wrapped in cellophanes.
It can't be bought in bars..or carried on aeroplanes....I have.
It seems like You brought me out from the land of bondage.
But, Lord, I've so many miles left to go.
This time I'm not afraid, 'cause I know that You'll lead me.
So, lead on, Lord. I'll follow.
And the peace that this world just cannot claim;
It can't be seen in visions wrapped in cellophanes.
It can't be bought in bars..or carried on aeroplanes....I have.
And, Oh, it hurts so badly thinking about where I've been.
You know, I knew a whole world of sin on my way back to finding You.
And, Oh, it hurts so sadly thinking of where I've gone.
And, all the dirt that I've done
On my way back to music...On my way back to morning
On my way home to You!
And the sun shines much brighter now; now, that You're all around me.
Lord I am just so glad that You've come.
And, the song that I'm singing here, is the song I'll sing forever.
'Cause I needed to be loved, and that's being done.
And the peace that this world just cannot claim;
It can't be seen in visions wrapped in cellophanes.
It can't be bought in bars..or carried on aeroplanes....I have..
