Don't Pollute the Truth

Don't Pollute the Truth

(Rich Mullins)

Don't go talking 'bout your streets of gold.
'Cause, gold don't do too much for me.
When I was a little boy I was told
that the children of God should all be free.
So, don't talk about your streets of gold to me.
'Cause, this boy.. he's got eyes and he can see.

Don't pollute the Truth with your materialism.
Where your treasures are at, well, your heart will be with 'em.
And, are they in the heavens with your Lord
or, in your billfold with your money?

And, don't go talking 'bout your pearly gates.
'Cause, pearls don't do too much for me.
When I get to heaven I think it would be great
if I could just sit down at my Savior's feet.
So, don't talk about your pearly gates to me.
'Cause this boy.. he's got eyes and he can see.

Don't pollute the Truth with your materialism.
Where your treasures are at, well, your heart will be with 'em.
And, are they in the heavens with your Lord
or, in your billfold with your money?

And, I don't know if I want to play the harp.
I have enough trouble picking out a tune on my old guitar.
And, I don't think the Lord would mind if I just stick to the piano
as long as everything I do, I do just to praise the Lord.

And, don't go talking 'bout your starry crowns.
'Cause, stars belong up in the sky.
And, I'm thinking it would be royalty
coming down from my sweet Savior's eyes.
So, don't talk about your starry crowns to me.
'Cause, He gave me these eyes so I can see.

Don't pollute the Truth with your materialism.
Where your treasures are at, well, your heart will be with 'em.
And, are they in the heavens with your Lord
or, in your billfold with your money?
