Crucufixion

Crucufixion

(Rich Mullins)

And, a gallows stands in place.
And, a shadow falls across a face, torn and shaped in anguish.
And, the soldiers toss their dice,
as the blood runs down His back
and dries in streams upon His body.
There He is the King from Nazareth
hanging there upon the darkness.
And, His bones are pulled apart
And, the yellow sky that hangs there turns to dark
and hearts behold in terror
As the will of God is done
And, the sins of all are placed upon this One who must suffer.
And, they laid Him in the coldness
of a grave that could not hold Him!
Worthy is the Lamb who was led to the slaughter
to have all our praise and honor!
Let us sing again in the presence of demons
songs of Him that leads us homeward.
For surely,
surely He has born our griefs
and carried,
He carried the sorrows of the people!
Yet, we esteemed Him stricken,
smitten of God
in His affliction
He was, He was bruised for our transgressions!
He was wounded for our iniquities.
And the chastisement of our peace fell on Him
And with His stripes we are healed!
We are healed!!
Let me take my cross then, Lord!
Let me die to the world that I might know You!
Let me take my songs up, Lord.
Let me stand in the light and sing!
Sing out
Worthy, worthy, worthy is the Lamb that was slain!
Worthy, worthy, worthy is the Lamb
To have glory,
honor
and majesty
ascribed unto His Holy Name!
Worthy,
worthy,
worthy
is the lamb that was slain!
