All Around Me

All Around Me

(Sometimes called "Chimney Smoke")
(Rich Mullins)

The chimney smoke waved good morning to the sky and he said, "You look very fine, you do!"
So lovely was this wisp of misty white pressed upon my favorite color of blue.
And, the leaves played cops and robbers with the wind and blew the shingles off to their applause.
The sidewalk puddle, she looked so content mindlessly reflecting all she saw.
Sometimes I miss it and sometimes I get just a little bit.
But, still I wish I had eyes to see that the Lord is very beautiful around me every way.
He is all around me.

Sister, when I look into your eyes there's a thousand things that I don't want to see.
Tears that say you'll be sayin' goodbye, or the smirk that says you'll be forgetting me.
With this song I'll try to let you know that there isn't anything I would not do.
Take you with me wherever I could go. And, anywhere you'd go, I'd follow you.
Sometimes I miss it and sometimes I get just a little bit.
But, still I wish that I had eyes to see the Lord is very beautiful around me every way.
But, especially when you're here with me!

I can see it, but sometimes I miss just a little bit.
Still, you gave me eyes to see that the Lord made lots of beautiful things around for us to share.
He's all around me.
